Mat-Su Regional Medical Center offers specialized care for non-healing wounds. The team of doctors and clinicians provides treatments that promote healing of chronic wounds and help patients recover as quickly as possible.

Chronic, non-healing wounds that haven’t shown signs of improvement in several weeks or are not responding to treatment need extra help to heal. Difficult wounds of this type are often caused by injury, disease or poor blood supply. At Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, we provide treatment for these types of wounds at the Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Therapy Center. The hyperbaric oxygen chamber is the only one of its kind in Alaska.

The Advanced Wound Care Center treats patients with:

• Neuropathic ulcers
• Diabetic ulcers
• Pressure ulcers
• Ischemic ulcers
• Venous insufficiency
• Traumatic wounds
• Surgical wounds
• Vasculitis
• Burns
• Peristomal skin irritations
• Other chronic, non-healing wounds

Wound care services include:

• Wound consultation/evaluation, diagnostic and ongoing assessments and treatment
• Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
• Non-invasive vascular studies
• Specialty wound dressing
• Cellular and tissue based products
• Compression therapy
• Treatment of wound infections
• Patient and family education
• Pressure off-loading devices and footwear
• Debridements
• Negative pressure wound therapy

Patients may be referred by a physician, health care professional or through self-referral. To determine the best course of treatment, we perform a thorough evaluation of a patient’s wound and current health status. Healthcare professionals who specialize in wound healing will educate the patient about the cause of their wound, and keep them informed throughout the healing process.
