Laboratory Services
The Mat-Su Regional Medical Center operates a full-service laboratory accredited by The Joint Commission that provides physicians reliable test results in a timely manner. The laboratory's phlebotomists, medical laboratory technicians and medical technologists collect and process laboratory specimens and perform diagnostic testing on blood and other body fluids such as cell counts, microscopic examination, chemical analysis, coagulation studies and cultures.
There is also a busy transfusion service at the laboratory, preparing more than 2200 units of blood components for transfusion each year. Blood components are obtained from the Blood Bank of Alaska in Anchorage and all blood units are extensively tested for infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
Outpatient laboratory services are available on a walk-in basis.
