PALMER— On Feb. 9, the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center will host its annual Go Red event, centered on heart health. The public is invited to this informative and potentially lifesaving event regarding their cardiovascular systems.
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death and injury so it stands to reason to host an entire event centered on one of the epicenters of overall health. This free educational expo will feature a plethora of activities and resources. Some of these activities include free blood pressure checks, echocardiograms and hands only CPR workshops.
This event also features several speaker presentations regarding heart health. These discussions will cover topics like heart attack prevention, symptoms of a heart attack as well as a heart attack aftercare lecture by Katie Abeles RN, TCRN, ACLS, and an Eating for your Heart talk proved by a local dietitian.
This event was originally created for women but over time evolved to encourage all sexes and ages to attend. Attendees are encouraged to wear red (representing the heart) during this event and to join in on the annual group photo with MSRMC as the event wraps up. There will be free lab vouchers given to all who attend.
The Go Red event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the MSRMC main lobby, stretching into the main halls towards the cafeteria.
