Mat-Su Regional 2nd Annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive to Benefit Local Food Banks
4/5/2024
Palmer, AK (April 2, 2024) – In celebration of National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day April 2, Mat-Su Regional Medical Center spread some love in the Mat-Su Community! Our team collected more than 1300 jars of peanut butter during our 2nd annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive to help stock the shelves at MatSu Food Bank and Palmer Food Bank and fight hunger in our community.
Peanut butter is a sought after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life.
“We recognize the impact hunger has on an individual’s health and wellbeing, and we want to help those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity,” said Dave Wallace, CEO, Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. An estimated 20% of people in the Mat-Su Borough are facing food insecurity and struggle to put food on the table. “Our Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive was a great way to partner with community members to reduce hunger in our area.”
